Before disconnecting fuel line at fuel rail, remove gas cap and release fuel pressure. Electric fuel pump not operating, and fuel level in tank above 3/4: the fuel tank does not need to be completely emptied before removal. You will want to keep the battery charged while you do that. The book says to drain it from the fuel rail with a hose into a container.
